Reorder, rotate and delete pages in a PDF

A scan with page 3 upside down, a report with a blank page in the middle, a contract whose annex ended up first: small problems, but they make a document look careless. You can fix all of them in a minute, without any software to install.

Open your PDF

  1. 1Open Organize pages and choose your PDF.
  2. 2The pages appear as thumbnails down the side and at full size in the middle, like in a PDF reader. On a phone, the thumbnails open from the button at the left of the toolbar.
  3. 3Scroll through the document in the middle to check each page. The thumbnail of the page you are reading is highlighted.

Move pages

Drag a thumbnail up or down to move its page. On a touch screen, press and hold the thumbnail for a moment before dragging, so a normal swipe still scrolls the list.

Prefer the keyboard? Focus a thumbnail with Tab, press Space to pick it up, move it with the arrow keys and press Space again to drop it.

Rotate pages

Under each page you’ll find two rotate buttons, one to the left and one to the right. Each press turns the page a quarter turn. Rotating changes the way the page is displayed, not its content, so text and images keep their full quality.

Delete pages

Use the bin button under a page to remove it. If you delete the wrong page, Undo at the top brings it straight back, and so does Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac).

Work on several pages at once

  1. 1Tick the pages you want in the thumbnails. With a mouse, the tick box appears when you point at a thumbnail. On a touch screen it is always shown.
  2. 2The toolbar now says how many pages are selected and offers rotate left, rotate right and delete for all of them.
  3. 3Use Select all to pick every page, and Clear to start over. On a computer, the Delete key removes the selected pages.

Fix a scanned document in one pass

Scans are where pages most often end up sideways or out of order. Work from the top: scroll through the document in the middle, rotate each page that needs it with the buttons underneath, and delete blank pages as you meet them. Then open the thumbnails and drag any page that is in the wrong place. Because the thumbnails show the pages already turned, it is easy to see that everything now reads the right way.

Zoom in for a closer look

On larger screens, the zoom buttons at the right of the toolbar make pages bigger or smaller. Click the percentage to go back to fitting the width of the screen.

Save the result

Tap Download to save the PDF with your changes. The document stays open afterwards, so you can still add pages with Add files, sign it, or divide it into several files with Split into files in the More menu.

Questions

Does rotating a page lower its quality?

No. Rotation only changes how the page is turned, so text stays sharp and images are not recompressed.

I deleted a page by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes. Tap Undo at the top. Every change can be undone, one step at a time.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once PDF Tools has loaded, organizing pages keeps working without a connection, because everything happens on your device.

Will I lose my changes if the page reloads?

No. The open document is kept for your browser tab. After a reload, PDF Tools offers to continue where you left off. Closing the tab clears it.
